For months now we’ve offered piano and voice sight reading on SightReadingMastery. Today I’m excited to announce that guitar sight reading (grade 1) is available!

Learning to read music on guitar is particularly challenging because, as a string instrument, a single note on the staff can be fingered in multiple places on the fretboard. Add chords and counterpoint to the mix, and the possibilities quickly become overwhelming for beginners.

SightReadingMastery eases guitarists into sight reading by starting them off on short, simple exercises that are 1) only one note at a time, and 2) playable entirely in first position. These aren’t mindless drills but carefully composed melodies, so beginners get the satisfaction of learning on real music.
