SightReadingMastery is now offering private lessons over Skype! Getting personal guidance from an expert is one of the most effective ways to improve at any skill—reading music definitely included!
We're currently offering one free lesson to anybody as part of our free trial, as well as regular lessons to SightReadingMastery members on our Musician plan.
Who teaches these lessons?
All lessons are currently taught by Carrie Davis, SightReadingMastery's on-staff music teacher. Carrie is super knowledgeable, approachable and passionate about teaching music, which she's been doing professionally since 2010.
Carrie holds the Florida Educator’s Certificate in Music K-12 and earned her Bachelor of Arts in Music from the University of Tampa. She's also a member of Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) and the National Association for Music Education (NAfME). Carrie is based out of Tampa, Florida (USA).
How long is a lesson?
Our free lessons (limited 1 per person) are 15 minutes long. SightReadingMastery members on the Musician plan can also schedule 30-minute lessons.
After the lesson, you'll receive a free audio/video recording that you can always reference to help you remember what you learned.
What instruments is this for?
All instruments, including singing/voice. These lessons are focused around the skills of reading and sight reading music that are portable across all instruments.
If you're more interested in areas of music besides sight reading or you have highly instrument-specific questions that aren't about piano or voice (Carrie's main instruments), you'd probably be better directing those to another teacher who specializes in your instrument.
How beginner/advanced are these lessons?
They're highly personalized to your own experience level. All are welcome, from total beginners just getting started learning to read music to serious musicians refining their advanced sight reading skills.
