Grade 8 is the final sight singing level in SightReadingMastery. Pieces are now up to twelve measures long, and most keys and intervals within an octave are available. Vocalists who master grade 8 are strong sight singers and should find most repertoire to be approachable.

Tips for Grade 8 Sight Singing

  • Get situated where you can see the piece while maintaining good singing posture (an iPad or other tablet is especially convenient for this, as you can set it right on your music stand; print this page if needed)
  • Choose the clef that's right for you under the button menu; then press the "Starting Note" button to find your pitch and take 30 seconds to look over the piece.
  • Once you've started, keep going no matter what – learning not to stop even when you make a mistake is one of the most important skills in sight singing
  • When you're finished playing, press the "Listen" button to hear a correct performance of the exercise; take a moment to reflect on how you did
